Tuscany, West Midlands, Sachsen and Västra Götaland are the four partners regions of the DISTRICT Interreg IIIC Regional Framework Operation. All are former members of the ERIK (European Regions Knowledge-based Innovation) Network - a specific network within the Regional Programme of Innovative Actions (RPIA) of the ERDF. Whereas Tuscany - the Lead Partner of the Operation - is responsible for the management and coordination of activities and the dissemination of results, the other three partners are each in charge of one thematic component of the RFO (see relevant section in this web site).

The choice of the four partner regions has been such as to complement each other in terms of socio-economic profile and economical outlook: an industry-based economy and a shared risk of decline in the face of globalization.

The four partner regions represent all zones of the Interreg IIIC South Programme.
